Did you know University Elementary School has the ONLY Gifted PreK class for 3 & 4 year olds? In order to be in the Gifted PreK children must be screened prior to enrollment at University. Any children who reside in Caddo Parish can test to qualify for the gifted program at University. If your young child shows signs of possible giftedness please call the Preschool Gifted Clinic at (318) 603-6871 or email edavenport@caddoschools.org. Children are screened at the Department of Exceptional Children.

📢 Important Update Regarding Race Like a Wildcat 📢 Please be advised that due to the weather forecast for tomorrow, University's Race Like a Wildcat has been cancelled. All who registered for the race will still receive their race shirt. Information regarding distribution will be shared soon. Please note that no refunds will be issued due to the cancellation. However, we are excited to announce that students will have an opportunity to participate in a "race" at school on a date to be announced (TBA). Students will be able to wear their race day shirts and will receive their Raising Cane's Certificate for participating. Thank you for your understanding - Mrs. Atkins

This Saturday!! Race Like a Wildcat 5k is April 5th! All participants of the race receive a Race Shirt. Race shirts are worn every Thursday with blue jeans (or non-uniform bottoms) for FREE for the rest of the 2025 school year and the 2025-2026 school year! After March 14 the cost goes up to $30. Prospective families are cordially invited to University Elementary School's annual Open House on Monday, March 24th, at 5:30 PM. The event will take place at 9900 Smitherman Drive in Shreveport, LA. Join Principal Mrs. Atkins to learn about the exceptional PreK through 5th-grade programs offered at University. Following the presentation, attendees may participate in guided or self-guided tours, including classroom visits with our talented teachers. On-site registration assistance will be available. At University we will have Honors Assemblies for the 3rd nine weeks. On Thursday, March 27th we will have 3rd grade from 8:00-8:45, 4th grade from 10:00-10:45, and 5th grade from 1:00-1:45. On Monday, March 31st we will have 2nd grade 12:00-12:45.
